A resume is your first opportunity to create an impression your prospective employer. It is the window through which half the chance of you being placed is made. Writing a resume for a senior position could be the most demanding task for an individual who is looking for a shift in career. Contrary to the practice of writing resumes for sub-ordinate positions, executive resume should be written highlighting the functions handled till recently. The choice of words should indicate that the person is capable of handling a demanding and serious nature of job.
In other words the excutive resume should describe an overall picture of the leadership qualities of the individual which shall convince the prospective employers that he/she is capable to manage and lead a team. Care should be taken to avoid using irrelevant details like reasons for leaving previous employer, year of birth, last remuneration and expected remuneration, scores of secondary education etc. Using standard formats or software generated resumes are a complete no-no since they will be lost among number of other resumes. The resume should be unique and should have a personal touch wherever possible without losing the formal flavor. The resume should of reasonable length to convey all important details of the applicant clearly.
